01Why we have this policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Velvet Storm LLC uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit velvetstormseo.com. Read together with our Privacy Policy, it tells you what we set on your device, why we set it, how long it lives, and how you can control it.
This policy is designed to comply with the EU ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC as amended), the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA), and the cookie-disclosure requirements of CCPA/CPRA.
02What cookies and similar technologies are
A cookie is a small text file a website saves on your device so it can remember something about you on your next visit. The IAB and EU regulators recognize four broad categories:
- Strictly necessary. Required for the site to function. Cannot be turned off without breaking core functionality. No consent required under ePrivacy.
- Functional / preferences. Remember choices you made (language, theme). Consent required only if not strictly necessary.
- Analytics / performance. Count visitors and measure engagement. Consent required.
- Targeting / advertising. Track across sites to build profiles for ads. Consent required.
We also describe similar technologies you may encounter: local storage (data stored by your browser, like cookies but not sent with each request), session storage (cleared when you close the tab), pixel tags (1×1 images used for tracking — we do not use these), and SDKs (vendor code that may set cookies — we do not embed any).
03Everything we set on your device
The complete inventory of what we store on your device:
That is the complete list. We set zero third-party cookies. We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, Hotjar, Mouseflow, or any other third-party tracker. Our aggregate analytics provider is cookieless by design.
04Why you do not see a cookie banner
Under the EU ePrivacy Directive (Article 5(3)) and the UK PECR (Reg. 6), consent is required before setting any cookie or similar device storage that is not strictly necessary for a service you explicitly requested.
Our one cookie (vs_theme) is set only after you change a setting — a service you explicitly requested by interacting with the toggle. The session storage entry (vs_brief_receipt) is set only after you submit the contact form — again, a service you explicitly requested.
Because there is nothing set before your action and nothing set without your specific request, there is nothing to consent to in advance. That is why you do not see a cookie banner. We follow the European Data Protection Board's 2023 guidance on no-banner sites.
If we ever add any cookie outside this scope — for instance, an analytics or advertising cookie — we will deploy a compliant consent management platform before that cookie fires, and obtain your prior, freely-given, specific, informed, and unambiguous consent (GDPR Art. 4(11), Art. 7).
05How to view, block, or delete cookies
Every major browser lets you view, block, and delete cookies. Blocking all cookies for this site will not break anything — you simply lose the convenience of a remembered preference.
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies / Site data
- Firefox:Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari (macOS): Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Safari (iOS): Settings app → Apps → Safari → Advanced → Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies
Global Privacy Control (GPC) and Do Not Track (DNT). We honor the GPC signal as an opt-out of any future sale or sharing of personal information. We do not change processing based on DNT alone because there is no industry consensus on its meaning.
06Changes to this policy
If we add, remove, or change any cookie or storage technology, we will update this page and bump the version. For any change that adds a non-essential cookie, we will deploy a consent banner before that cookie fires on its first load.
